Getting new donors is not the easiest thing in the world to do. Our lab site does an extensive amount of work to recruit new donors. We advertise in professional papers, with private indoor advertising companies, community events, universities and many other venues. We also go out on foot to flyer around areas of interest throughout our neighboring cities.
Of course due to the number and diversity of things we do to advertise, we get plenty of guys wanting to be donors. However, because of our strict protocol and donor guidelines, very few get through (as you have read in previous blogs). Our philosophy is the more guys we can get to know about us and to apply, the better chance we have of getting more donors into our program to diversify our donor catalog.
Recently, I packed up some fliers, grabbed my staple gun and duct tape and adventured out to flier at a nearby site. I had a person come up and ask me if I worked for the company I was putting the fliers up for. I responded “yes” but with a hint of sarcasm and a smile on my face. After a short conversation of what our company did, he was impressed that a person who works in a lab would go out and put up fliers themselves. I know all of the employees for CLI go that extra mile to make patients and clients happy. Also that extra effort goes into making sure that all of our projects and tasks are done the right way to ensure we are being the best we can be.
